Definition

The differecenate between two point is called vertical distance (V.D).

How can you find V.D on level machine ?

Procedure;

First of all open tripod and expand it on ground and then fix level on tripod plate with the help on plumbing fork
Now set the bubble with help of leveling screw. when bubble come to the center then leave leveling screw your instrument is ready for work

If you are using machine first time .You must check machine fault.
First of all you must be B.M in your Survey site
keep staff rod on B.M and target it and take reading on cross hair with help of eye piece .That will your B.S reading.
Note the data on level book or in your copy.

After that;
keep the Staff rod on every R.D and target it and take reading on cross hair with help of eye piece.

Formula for making H.I
BM+B.S=H.I
And then make subtract all I.S from H.I
Formula for V.D
H.I – I.S =V.D
